The Agglomération de Douai, in collaboration with the IGO – GEOFIT – SINTEGRA consortium, is embarking on an ambitious project to create a territorial digital twin. This innovative project aims to use cutting-edge technologies to transform territorial management and planning.
For the Agglomération de Douai, this digital twin includes detailed 3D modeling of the area, providing a strategic tool for energy planning and urban development.

Project components

High-resolution airborne acquisition

The project includes high-resolution airborne acquisition with vertical and oblique shots. These images capture precise details of the territory, essential for accurate modeling.

Structured 3D modeling

Structured 3D modeling in CityGML format is optimized for seamless integration into the ESRI environment. This standardized format facilitates the interoperability and analysis of geospatial data.

3D photoengraving

A 3D photomail is also produced, optimized for the ESRI environment. This detailed visual representation enables precise analysis and immersive visualization of the territory.

Solar Cadastre

An agglomeration-wide solar cadastre will be created and integrated into the ESRI environment. This tool will make it possible to assess the solar potential of each roof, thus encouraging the development of renewable energies.

Solar potential simulation web platform

Finally, a web-based solar potential simulation platform will be developed. This interactive platform will enable citizens and decision-makers to visualize and analyze the solar potential of their territory, thus encouraging the adoption of sustainable energy solutions.

The benefits of the Digital Twin

Agglomération de Douai’s digital twin offers many advantages:

  • Energy planning: optimizing the management of energy resources and promoting renewable energies.
  • Urban planning: better planning and management of urban infrastructures.
  • Enhancing the region: showcasing the region’s assets and attracting new investment.
  • Citizen participation: involving citizens in the management and development of their territory through interactive tools.

The Douai Conurbation’s digital twin project represents a major step forward in territorial management and planning. Thanks to innovative technologies and close collaboration between the various players involved, this project promises to transform the region for the long term.
