The IGO – SEAVIEWS consortium has launched an innovative project involving immersive 3D mapping of Marseille’s seabed. The project, aimed at the general public, is designed to offer an interactive and educational experience to enhance and preserve the city’s underwater heritage.
An interactive, accessible experience
The interactive map is available online on the City of Marseille website and via a dedicated mobile application. The aim of the project is to raise user awareness of the need to preserve the seabed, while offering a fun and educational experience for recreational divers.
The 3D mapping project of the Marseilles seabed is part of a drive to preserve and promote the region’s underwater heritage. By offering an immersive and educational experience, IGO – SEAVIEWS hopes to raise public awareness of the importance of protecting marine habitats.
SEAVIEWS, a French company based in La Ciotat, specializes in underwater acoustics and seabed mapping. Using advanced technologies such as multibeam echosounder and underwater photogrammetry, SEAVIEWS develops 2D bathymetric maps and 3D models of sites of interest, particularly for diving and the environment.
